The exclusive satellite data recording, voice communication and broadcast system that was introduced to the offshore fishing tournament world by Bisbee’s and International Racing Consultants at the 2008 Bisbee’s Bluewater CUP Championship and 2009 East Cape Offshore tournament will be available during this year’s Black & Blue.
The system is called IriTrack® and it combines several data and voice technologies in a single transponder unit that uses satellite equipment to communicate between the vessel and the IriTrack® Control Center. Inside the transponder unit there is a GPS module, an Iridium Satellite Voice and Data Modem, a micro-computer and software. This is the same transponder unit that is used on the Baja 1,000 race cars and most other major offroad races in the world. When you run the IriTrack® Real Time Satellite Tracking System, you are tracked on the web every minute of the tournament’s fishing hours. Anyone with access to the web can follow your tournament progress at all times, including your hook-up and release status.
Your team provides a team photo, a photo of your boat, logo images and team statistics. These are preloaded to the Bisbee’s/IRC database. After that internet spectators can follow your team online throughout the event by simply moving their curser over your team’s marker to view the preloaded materials along with current fishing stats in a pop up window.
For 2010 we'll be offering a media/sponsorship package that you can use to solicit your own individual team sponsors. Those who opt to participate now will have a leg up on others since in addition to the entire media/sponsor package (included with system rental by Bisbee’s/IRC), they'll have their archived internet coverage from this year’s Black & Blue to show to potential sponsors.
The system rental price this year is a discounted $600 and includes rental of all the equipment needed, system installation/removal and operating instructions. The IriTrack® is quick and easy to install, non-invasive, and will not damage your boat. It's being offered at discount simply because you haven't been able to solicit individual team sponsorships.
If you would like to have an IriTrack® transponder unit installed on your boat, please contact Steve Myers of IRC at 949-294-9035.
