Cabo San Lucas, Mexico—Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Tournament, the world's richest offshore fishing tournament, today announced the winners of their $3.3 million dollar jackpot. For the first time in history, both the first and second place teams received checks for over $1 million dollars.

"The past 25 years have been a wild ride, and this year was the best and the richest we've ever seen," said Wayne Bisbee, President of The Bisbee's organization. "I also have to thank the wonderful people and businesses of Cabo for their support. For the past 25 years they have embraced our tournament and our anglers."

This year with the increase in sponsorship, anglers and international participants, the total cash prizes reached $3,363,600.00, a 67% increase from the previous year's prize money. Over 900 anglers and 185 boats represented all 50 US States, Columbia, Brazil, Germany, Israel, Japan, United Kingdom, Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and Mexico. Anglers caught and released 305 billfish giving the tournament a release ratio of 95% (marlin under 300 pounds do not qualify for the tournament prize money so they are released).

"Our prize money shot past $3 million dollars this year, largely due to the addition of the new $5,000 optional daily jackpot, which 84 teams entered. This added $378,000. per day to the tournament's already impressive daily jackpot amounts. Next year we fully expect to hit $4 million in purses", said Bisbee.
